At the Law Offices of Tina M. Barberi, P.C. we want to make sure that everyone is enjoying their weekend, but most importantly, we hope you will stay safe and do NOT give any reason for an officer to arrest you.
DUIs are common on Memorial Day. Like any holiday, Fresno police and other law enforcement will be set up all around Fresno County in full force to arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. DUI Checkpoints are likely and police will be looking for anyone that consumes alcohol.
If you decide to drink alcohol, please make sure you have a designated driver.
BE AWARE: People are arrested for DUI, even if they are below a .08% BAC when driving.
Many people think that they can have a couple drinks and or beers, hang out for a couple hours or more, and be fine to drive later. Many people think the BAC would decrease as the night went on… WRONG!
Your BAC level will actually increase over an hour after you stop drinking. People normally have 2 or 3 alcoholic drinks, sometimes more, at the beginning of the night thinking that the alcohol will wear off and they will be fine to drive home.
Unfortunately, later in the night, the buzz has worn off, but the BAC is still increasing (or slowly decreasing) even though you feel fine.
